Weekly Warm-up from www.discovermovement.com: A dynamic warm-up exercise routine for a thrower (javelin, baseball etc) using a broomstick. All overhead athletes can benefit from this routine by gaining more active range of motion/flexibility.

  • I'm a beginning javelin thrower at my high school.

    Do I want to do these stretches just before throwing, or well before throwing?

  • @thepercussionistME Thank you for the question! I would incorporate this routine as a part of the general warm-up sequence well before throwing. The stick warm up mainly prepares the upper body mobility and I would perform them with some lower body dynamic flexibility exercises and the core activation. Hope that helps.
