@Riderealhorses this particular horse does look crippled, but not all western pleasure horses move like this, so please don't categorize them as "sick lame and sad" because not all horses that are used for western pleasure move like this :)

this style i think is clean, safe and fun..and the horses like to show off...really people riding is about having fun...i barrel race and show with one horse and he loves showing.

For the people that say this isn't natural, think about it,

Do you guys think jumping a horse is natural, dressage is natural, and contesting is natural? Horses are bred to be ridden in different ways, and clearly this horse is bred to be a western pleasure horse, so yes, this is very natural for some horses.

I totally agree with you the horses look like they are lame Hell how would you know i they were. Thats exactly why thos horses are bobbing there heads is to pick up that inside shoulder.

Wow, I cant wait until the day Youtube is known for fights. Some people do the cow horse thing, some people do the hunter thing, some people do the speed thing, and some people do the pleasure thing. If you dont like how pleasure horses move, DONT WATCH IT! Melc1949, unless you have been traing pleasure horses all your life, dont state your opinion. Grow up and stop insulting everybody who doesnt agree. I agree fully with Kayce16. We just tweak the natural movement the horse gives us.

I thought the AQHA was finally going to get pleasure horses back to normal but it seems they can never get it right. Your horse is bobbing to pick up his shoulders to maintain that goofy slow pace, they should go a hair faster so they can be level. I agree with most people, the QH shows are frowned upon cuz they keep going thru wierd trends & the poor horses have to suffer thru it. Thank god they finally got rid of the cruel low headset, wake up, what's next 3 legs!

I'm 14 and my 4 year old is winning WP classes and hes barely broke. Ridden maybe 30 times. He does all of this on his own and I think thats its the way the rider rides that makes the horse move like this.

No, NOT ALL WP horses move like this. There isn't anything wrong with this horse either, he is just loping at a very slow speed, which is preferred for a WP class. I SOME WP horses move at this speed and look much different though, I prefer the ones that do not move their heads up and down. Most horses do not like to and will not naturally lope this slow. It can be hard to train them to do this, and it takes a lot of control and collection to accomplish it. Just wish the head would raise.
