The Open Carry Walk in support of OFCC member Ed Farbrother was a huge success!

Over seventy people, ranging in age from 2-1/2 to 70 years old and from as far away as Cincinnati, showed up on a beautiful Saturday afternoon to support Farbrother and protest his poor treatment at the hands of the Northwood police department.

After meeting up at Central Park, the group went for a walk around the block to the front of the police station and posed for pictures in front of a sign reading "Freedom is Not Free", highly appropriate for the situation at hand.

Afterwards, the majority of us went over to Frisch's Big Boy for lunch. Big Boy management welcomed our group of humble open carriers, and were rewarded with receipts totaling over $560, well over if you include tips. Originally, the plan was to return to the scene of the original incident. However, Netty's Ice Cream Shop informed us we weren't welcome. Big Boy, on the other hand, were eager to have us there and we were rewarded with excellent service and very tasty food. They even kept the breakfast buffet open past regular hours for those who wanted brunch.

Coverage for the event was provided by the Toledo Blade and Fox News Toledo. Video coverage of the event is scheduled to air on Fox News during the 10pm program tonight. It is not known if this will be just for the Toledo affiliate or will be broadcast statewide.

The message behind this was that open carry is a legal activity in Ohio and that Farbrother is owed an apology from Northwood Police Chief Thomas Cairl. Farbrother did not deserve the treatment he has gotten from Northwood police as he did nothing wrong.

  • Could you explain what the poor treatment was?

Nice turnout, VERY impressive. Open Carry is very important to the gun rights of Americans. A right unused is a right lost.

  • One of the Cops said he was going to get "popped" because of the way he looked.

  • isn't America great? If I said a cop was gonna get popped I'd probably get arrested for it

  • @caneywaney That is your opinion. Open Carry is out right. Basically you are saying we should sit idly by and allow the harrassment to continue instead of educating those ignorant to the law.

  • I'm sorry but I see this as more of a "Look at me, I own a gun and I am having a power trip" kinda thing. I don't remember anyone in the history books flaunting like this because a weapon was used to hunt and CONSTANTLY defent not just families but whole towns and villages. If you're alowed to do it, then just do it and shut up. The bigger you make a deal about it, the more hassle you will get and make it harder in the future to continue with the right to bear arms

  • how did you get this video to go past 30 sec?

  • When Ashtabula County Sheriffs (or was it ashland county...?)made the brillant decision to lay off more deputies they went on the record and stated that more citizens should arm themselves for self defensesince they could no longer gurantee proper police response to incidents due to manpower issues, yet depts and politicians get theirs panties in a twist about legal possesion of guns...

  • i was there

  • lol! I noticed that as well I guess his mind was on more than just Open Carry huh?.....lol

  • Dude your lucky you didn't get popped zooming in on that girls ass in front of you. LOL

  • "we want our young to grow so we can use them to fight our wars." -Sarah Palin

  • Fuck cops. If they dont think we should have guns then neither should they. If we cant defend ourselves who would? Not them. They try to make us all out to be criminals. I have had an experience where someone tried to walk into my house so I pulled my Glock 45 on them and when the cops got there they arrested me and took my guns. They even pulled guns on me after they knew I was unarmed. Fuckin pussy ass cops. I couldnt afford a lawyer at the time so they seized my glock and a shotgun I owned

  • 8th cont...

I didnt want to push it and have the cop get mad and make a false case against me for any reason. Because he seemed to be looking for anything, any excuse to mess w me.

But I know he shouldn't have searched my house without a warrant and without probable cause.

That was the first & last time I let cops get into my home. I wonder if I just should've shot the punks & burry them in my backyard....lol just kidding.

Its just messed up that some cops dont support gun rights
