Nick Ashford's version of "California soul" on a Verve DJ promo. I'm not certain if his version came first, but Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell tackle this on their last LP "Easy"...a great single

  • @denknee Actually, Lamonte' McLemore wrote two songs for the 5th Dimension..."A Love Like Ours" on the Portrait album and "the Singer" on the Love Lines Angles and Rhymes album.

  • @tahoeshgrl The 5th Dimension never WROTE any of their songs. They DID do a fine version of this song, tho, I must say. Marlena Shaw's version is probably my fav tho.

  • RIP NICKOLAS ASHFORD

  • Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell recorded this song before the Fifth Dimension.

Motown pushed the Onion Song as the initial 45 from the album Easy.

  • You can grab the audio-mp3 of this song at grabaudios doht cohm.
