In 1897 Queen Victoria celebrated her 60th year as monarch. A spectacular event was staged in London with a processional route lined with troops from all corners of the Empire and millions of the Queen's subjects. It was the media event of the decade, and the pioneer filmmakers fought for the best positions. A large number of their films survive and are preserved in the BFI National Archive, including this sequence which has been restored with its original tinting. Look out for Queen Victoria herself, sitting under a white parasol in the final carriage, drawn by no less than eight horses (1:40).

'A Royal Occasion: From Queen Victoria to Elizabeth II' is available now on BFI DVD - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Royal-Occasio...

All titles on the BFI Films channel are preserved in the vast collections of the BFI National Archive. To find out more about the Archive visit http://www.bfi.org.uk/archive-collect...

Imperialism at its zenith. No monarch in history of mankind has ever commanded authority, respect and ruled as much geographical territory by means of dominions of her empire. Victoria was truly the empress of the world.

Read third - inhabiting other planets Peter diamandis explains this that man really has no future if we are not going to spread out into space. even Stephan hawking and Carl sagan said this. and about the working for 100 years of their life essentially wouldn't have a clue But in my own opinion i think Money will disappear in the next few centuries because of nano based devices that will make any and all objects out of carbon fibre in your house. so its futile to work.

Read second - ray kurzweil states that remember the mobile phone? it was chunky and was bad at the only thing it could do

now they are essentially cheap and can do millions of things.

    that's just 1 EG.

and will follow the same route for longevity -

i would also watch Aubrey de grey talks he works with SENS foundation.

also just to put one more thing on the over population question in the next 100 years we will have only around 17billion which is okay but we are going to start ------->

the problem that you are stating is not overpopulation its resources/ which peter diamandis - abundance is the future clearly states that will resources will be abundant in the next 10 - 15 years for all

Also to answer your rich will only get it question.

Aubrey de grey of the sens foundation said that these treatments will be fundamentally suicidal for a country not to give free or really really cheap.

Also all technologies start off expensive and get cheaper over the years...------------>

Pretty interesting info, thx. The only thing I sorta find a bit problematic with living for centuries is overpopulation and a very large population of old people. Although we could say that the ability will extend by a lot of years, but will everyone actually want to work for 100 years of their life? Sorta think this will probably be accessible to the well known and rich.

but "our generation" if you in born now or in your late 30's you will most likely live for hundreds of years due to the fact of nano technology/ biotech and robotics.

maybe you're new to the subject ^.^ if you are look up Peter diamandis - - - abundance is the future / and Ray kurzweil @googletalks
