@finalfantasyladeh That was due to censorship restrictions at the time. Kubrick wanted to use a younger girl, truer to the story but he wasn't allowed to.

They had to change the age of Lolita in the film from 12 (as it is in the novel) to 14, due to censorship. And the actress Sue Lyons was actually 14 at the time, however she did look older, but thats also why they thought she would be good for the role, people wouldn't have accepted a 14 yr old that looked 14.



The film was well acted, especially by James Mason. Sue Lyons was not believable as a 12-13 year old girl. She
looks 16+, about the age Lolita is when the twisted narrator drops her.
