Measuring for your head size is both an art and a science. You can use a tape measure (or a length of string that you will have to hold up to a tape measure) to determine the length. Place the string or tape around your head about 1/8 above your ear, across the mid-forehead, completely circling your head. Hold the tape firmly, but not too tightly. Basically you need to measure your head exactly where the hat will sit. If your measurement falls between sizes, choose the next largest size.

Another valid method to determine hat size is to try on a hat and check the size. If you dont own a hat, then try on a random hat next time you are visiting a shop that stocks hats. Sizes, even though they do vary depending on the hat maker, are technically universal.

Please understand that hats are like other apparel in that sizes can vary somewhat from one manufacturer to another. We cannot guarantee that following these instructions will assure a perfect fit.

  • @sunaJH how tall are u?

  • 23 inches isn't big, it's average.

  • 23.5 here, massive neural nets:)

  • @jeffstew711 head, and i am 13

  • I have a big head... 23.5

  • @rkontna Holy hell, mate; your head is massive!

  • LOL!. My name is Matt too. and My head is also exactly 23 inches. what a coincidence. :-)

  • Thanks for the chart. It was helpful.

  • It is absolutely an art and an -imprecise- science. There must be a axiom about buying hats (of all clothing) by mail order. I've had to return a hat at my own expense to VH London before now. There's nothing beats being able to try hats on before you buy, and I would buy again from VH but feel disinclined as the sizing is so crucial.

Seems that the higher crown hat (fedora, homburg) favours a larger size. Short crown (pork-pie, some trilbys, esp if worn tipped back) a size smaller is best.

  • im 571/2cm which puts me between medium n large
