It's amazing many have difficulty with sound reasoning.

Sound reasoning is not difficult. It enables accurate evaluation of the problem and commonsensical solutions. For example: since fire burns, quench the fire, stay away from it or harness it for beneficial purposes.

However, the illusion of intelligence tends to complicate the simplest things.

don't confuse the belief? claiming that the universe must have a beginning is an observation based on unprovable assumptions. many people might scoff at the notion, saying "of course the universe has a beginning, it MUST."

why must it? that implies that it came from nothing, an even more glaring logical fallacy. to claim knowledge of an ultimate beginning demands complete knowledge of the nature of time, something no man ever has, does, or ever will possess.

To me it isn't so difficult. Even in middle school I never saw what the big deal was reconciling the existence of God and the big bang, so what I would recommend is don't disregard science or religion. Not only do a combination of both provide answers, but the two become more and more reconciled with each other as time passes and knowledge increases. Not the other way around as many would have everyone believe...Peace Zap!

If something created the universe, what created that creator? I had to ask. Because basically, any answer is a logical fallacy. Ad hoc.

Of course the usual response is, the creator is inherently separate from time, and therefore doesn't have to have a beginning. So if this creator is eternal, why can't the universe be?

See. You have no answer but only the same obvious answer. There is a creation and therefore a creator, just like there is a car, and a creator of the car. You may keep insisting there is no creator, but You are no different than someone that keeps insisting the car had no creator. You can claim there is no reasoning or logic, but you use flawed reasoning and logic to do so...

conclusion will give it any meaning beyond what you want of it. what if there was no beginning? this is extrapolation. an ultimate conclusion does nothing if it is based on a mountain of assumptions.
