As part of the New Year's Eve preparations the public is invited to shred their bad memories in Times Square -
everything from worthless stock certificates
and depressing bank statements to photos
of old lovers.
Passersby also write their bad memories
on stationery and watch those awful
recollections get sliced into shreds.
This year a knee x-ray and its associated pain is brought to a fitting end and the Times Square Alliance provides a sledge hammer to take care of the bulkier items which includes a DVD player.
