J.S. Bach Fantasia in A minor BWV 922, with additional embellishments. Played on Rebecca Pechefsky's Italian harpsichord by Yves Beaupré, Montreal, after an Italian harpsichord from the mid -18th century.
Through this, I hope to start a dialogue on using improvisatory ornaments while playing this piece. The rhythmically repetitive middle section, through which most players just rush through, can be elaborated upon and expanded into an extemporaneous fantasy - -true to the title of the piece. Enjoy and please let me know what you think!

  • A brilliant performance, thank you for uploading. Your elaborations seem, in places, to give it a distinct flavour of French harpsichord music.

  • @lozzic Thank you very much! I am glad to hear it since Bach was influenced by French harpsichord school.

  • Wonderful! More please and thank you.

  • @sandyhackney Thank you! More coming -- working on it.

  • What a stupendous video. This composition is so seldom performed - (which is a shame!). On the other hand, something that is NOT a shame is your absolutely beautiful rendition of this piece (especially your very creative ornamentation). Also, you are indeed a beautiful woman. Thank you for the video.

  • @DainGerrUsss Thank you! Yes, I think this piece is seldom performed because it is seldom understood how beautiful it can be.

  • since on one else is taking you up on the discussion. i think free ornamentation on bachs music is fine, unless you are a student in grading, then it may be a problem.

its obvious playing bachs music of the free nature in his keyboard works, his models point to a less "authoritarian" approach, than is often promoted in the current institutions. i think we get carried away with the severity of his genius in contraptual matters and apply it to his whole catalouge

    its an interesting topic really

  • @Aktinovolos Thank you very much!

  • @magellanwave Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.
