Mystical Ninja starring Goemon has been one of my favorite games for 10 years. After my latest playthrough do I still feel the same way? There is only one way to find out!

System: Nintendo 64 (needs a memory card)

Number of Players: 1

ESRB: E (6+)

My recommended age to play this game: 12+
There are a few instances of innuendo and a few phrases that six year olds don't need to read. I first played this game when I was thirteen or fourteen and I didn't understand most of those jokes. I know that kids are exposed to more mature themes younger than ever before but that doesn't mean I have to endorse that trend. Wait until the kids are twelve before letting them play this game.

Everything stated in this review is my opinion.

  • Baron creeps me out I couldn't get past the first boss until only 1 year ago. that cutscene just scared the crap out of me

  • @APPLESAUCE50

I don't think I can relate to that feeling. I always thought he was more funny than creepy. Well, I'm glad you made it past the first boss! :)

  • too bad the damn thing overheats a half hour later and it crashes=( plus it sucks playing it without the original n64 controller, i need to get an adaptoid, n64 controller to usb adapter to play it right & hope the analog works perfect, not like with my logitc dual analog usb pc gamepad, the analog sticks never work good,im just so happy that i can finally emulate this on my pc,i hope it will work on my wii with a wii n64 emulator when i softmod it,cause i dont think its on virtual console yet

  • yes ,this game rocks , it is definitely one of my favorite games of all time ,definitly one of the top 5 n64 games ,definitly one of my favorites,up there with ocarina of time ,mario64 and castlevani64, and mariokart64, and wave race64,i havent beat this in a long time ,someone stole this game from me ,twice!,now i cant find another cart=(,oh well i finally got it running on project 64 after years of trying ,it never ran at a playable speed, but it runs great on my new sony vaio laptop intel i3

  • @phuphroo I WAS ON THE SAME PLACE!"

  • when i was little i didnt have a save pack so i had to leave my n64 on until i beat the game...my god that sucked haha good thing it was worth it!

  • @DareZero it lags even on the N64 lol probably not as bad but it can get weird at times

  • I would totally play Mystical Ninja Starring Gatekeeper!

  • I've finished this game countless times too.

  • @Weirdoforu I didn't have a PS1 at the time. But I must say I've just bought a PS2 just to play the 5 PS Goemon Games (4 on the PS1 and 1 on the PS2). While they aren't as great as this one, the first and third released for the PS1 may be worth trying out.
