It was around 3am. My bf decides to check my Wii's online connection.. and then Nintendo fucks us over by forcing the 4.2 firmware update down our throats. Upon its completion, we find the HBC has disappeared, the boot2 re-written and our beloved IOSes replaced with nasty blanks known as "stubs".

Well, shit. It would seem Nintendo has grown some balls. Large, hairy, yucky balls.
Assholes.

Getting right down to it, we begin searching the web for any known solutions. Low and behold, we find WiiHack.com's' guide to re-installing HBC and getting backups to work again.. Oh boy. (I don't know which was worse, Nintendo practically bricking my Wii, or having to deal with that guide's HORRIBLE English!) In any case, we follow the guide down to its exact words, the the best of our understanding anyway, and found that at Part B, the first two packs either read errors or just plain freeze the wii, and pack 3 just doesn't load at all.

What were we to do? At this point, it was around 8am, we hadn't gotten any sleep, and I was wishing I could enter my computer and kick whoever the fuck wrote that horrible guide in the first place. It was then that he suggested we skip right over to Part C, since nothing else had worked what's the worse that could happen? A bricked Wii? Well, if your anything like me, and can't play backups on it, then it may was well be!

Now, here's when things get seriously weird. We still have no idea how or why this worked, but as stated in the video, we went to Part C, got the pack, got the wad manager to work, and tried installing IOS 250 Network first. To our amazement, it went through.. so we went back and downloaded the IOS... and that worked too. By now we weer practically shitting our pants thinking we fixed it, so again we went back and followed the same procedure with IOS 249. It installed successfully!

Once that happened we were ecstatic, and downloaded the new Gamma, put in our newly burnt copy of Dead Space... and boom, it worked! How we did it when Part B had failed, we still do not know. But hey, I was happy, I had my Wii back! ^ ^

If anyone knows how we did it or why it worked, please tell us in the comment section. i put this video up to try and help out others who are, or rather, were in the same boat as I was, and if any of you are registered and active members of WiiHack.com, please let them know about this. After hearing about this update bricking non-hacked Wiis and Nintendo not giving a fuck, I really wanna stick it to them.

Hope this helps anyone out there,

Happy Hacking,

~Nemmy
