**Always follow the instructions in your repair manual when doing repair or maintenance work on a motorcycle. Manuals can be found at the dealer and online.**

In this video I check the engine oil pressure on a 2008 Harley Davidson Motorcycle. Checking the engine oil pressure requires a oil pressure gauge, 1-1/16" wrench, and the proper adapter. The first step is to remove the oil pressure switch and sending unit. This requires a 1-1/16" wrench. After the oil pressure switch is removed, the proper adapter that will fit into the threaded hole where the oil pressure switch was can be threaded into the hole and tightened. I didn't need to tighten the adapter very tight, and my first priority was to protect the engine threads. After the adapter is installed the pressure gauge can be attached to the adapter. Now that the pressure gauge is attached to the engine, the bike can be started and warmed up to operating temperature. With the bike at operating temperature, accelerate the engine to 2000 rpm and read the pressure on the gauge. The pressure should be between 30 and 38 psi for the bike.

To reinstall the oil pressure switch and sending unit, remove the oil pressure gauge and adapter. Clean the threads on the oil pressure switch, and apply Loctite pipe thread sealant with Teflon 565 to the oil pressure switch threads. Reinstall the oil pressure switch and sending unit, and tighten it to 90-120 in-lbs. This requires a 1-1/16" crows foot wrench, extension and torque wrench
