Nothing special, just a recording from some practice landing the Jayhawk on the flight deck of the USCG Cutter Chase. Great fun.

  • NOW THATS HOW YOU LAND A HELICOPTER!! ( great landing, hoping to see more! ) p.s. i subscribed : )

  • Thanks! Gotta love the joy of flying, even if it's only simulated flying.

  • Gorgeous approach !-

Just like in real life (I wasn't on the Chase, but was on the Polar Star. Was on the ship for recovery ops/tie downs.)

Was that Hover Controls Jayhawk?.. What did you use for video recording ?

  • Thanks man!

This is the Aerosoft Jayhawk, as apart of the Seahawk and Jayhawk Package. This was recorded using a registered version of Fraps, although you can get it free from the Fraps website. Google Fraps, and you'll see it.

Thanks for the comment! Take care

  • amazing pilot man. everytime i see ur videos i am amazed that u can fly so well.

  • never tried landing on a moving ship, i gotta question: since you're not exactly hovering because the landing site is moving forward, the helo is under the translational lift effect, so is more stable. my question is: even if matching the speed of the boat is difficult, isn't the landing easier because of the forward movement?

    Cheers!

  • @schllimann it depends on how you look at it. for one, you can land a bit faster than normal (15-30knts faster), but if you stuff up then youll most likely end up in the water, & you hav to match the ships speed to an accuracy of about 3knts (for me anyway). also depends on the ship. its easiest to land on a carrier than a destroyer/cutter.

  • excellent flighting!! :)

  • Damn nice landing man.. I want to fly for the CG too

  • beautiful landing

  • qustion is this free like fly aces high cause i really like it plz some help and where to go to download it and is it safe

  • What area is thar called so i cam try it

  • I posted this on another vid, but the take off was wrong, FYI. In the USCG the helo's hover, then pedal turn left and move off that direction. The wind is placed 15 degrees at 15kts on the port bow. This is in case of an tail rotor failure, the helo would be spinning left on it's own, and the ships go to starboard to avoid crash on deck. Seen it many times while I was tie down crew on the CGC Reliance in Portsmouth, NH.

  • ive been simming for 12 years and i still cant land a helicopter on a moving ship like you just did, amazing job dude, and btw what hardware u using? (yokes. pedals, etc.)
