(Leviticus 23:5)
"In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the LORD'S passover."
(6)
"And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto the LORD: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread."

Many people wonder if there's a connection between the Old Testament Jewish system and the New Testament Christian system.

Of course there is.

Jesus is the long awaited Jewish Messiah.

Here's what some passages in the Old Testament have to say on the topic and in special regards to the comparison between Jesus and Unleavened Bread.

(Levitucus 21:17)
"Speak unto Aaron, saying, Whosoever he be of thy seed in their generations that hath any BLEMISH, let him not approach to offer the BREAD OF HIS GOD."

(Zechariah 12:10)
"...and they shall look upon me whom they have PIERCED, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn."

(Psalm 22:16)
"For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they PIERCED my hands and my feet."

(Isaiah 53:5)
"But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his STRIPES we are healed."
(6)
"All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all."
(10)
"Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an OFFERING FOR SIN..."

  • It's just a huge cracker. As you mentioned, the stripes are on it because of a grill, though you fail to acknowledge that these crackers aren't always prepared on grills. Besides, why would a cracker with stripes represent being sinless? Wouldn't a blank cracker be better for that? The holes in these crackers (and all crackers for that matter) are there to prevent air pockets from forming. In other words, the Jews wanted to make sure that the bread wouldn't do any sort of rising.

  • Doy...

You just really like to hear yourself argue, don't you?

This video clearly makes these points.

That's simply how the unleavened bread is prepared.

And, the symbolism of Christ conveniently shows through that tradition.

  • i have a question.

does it lay out this ceremony in the bible?

    perhaps in the old testament.

i am still reading the thing cover to cover but i wanted to skip to this part because its an interesting parallel of Jesus that the Jewish people would seem to be ignoring.

  • You can find some scriptures on it in Leviticus 23:4-5 & Exodus 12:1-4.

You won't find much detail on how the ceremony is supposed to go, though.

That's one of the amazing things about it.

The Jewish people do these feasts & festivals a certain way & they've done it that way for thousands of years.

    BUT, they don't know why.

So, it's great to see Christ shine through their customs & such.

    It's quite a testimony.

  • To BLAHNESS with the religious comparisons, we are ALL the SAME; Organisms composed of STAR DUST from the ENERGY of all things, Stars. APPRECIATE, that we are not alone; but believe it is not what is SEEMS. BTW This bread must be tasty, eh? Im going to cook my own sprouts in the oven. but I got normal sprouts. whats the difference!!?!!

  • Matzah does not need to be striped or pierced, nowhere does it say that. As a matter of fact the matzah they made during the original passover was likely just flat bread not a giant saltine made in a factory. For that reason, though I like the connections, they don't line up with the original passover. This is an example of taking a modern practice and trying to treat it like it was the original intent. We make unleavened bread fresh and it looks nothing like that.

  • I've tasted that bread. It's better with a bit of cream cheese and apricot jam.

  • That was really cool to no, I'm trying to find recipes and type of Unlevened bread to help my condition out by changing my diet can someone help me out her like i know Soda bread and Banana bread but what else is there?

  • The best thing to do is celebrate Pesach with an observant family who actually know the traditions. Then you will discover much more than you could by merely hearing or reading about it. What Christians call "the Lord's Supper' is actually part of the Passover Seder.

To be fit, the matzoh MUST be striped & pierced. Of course, there is a functionality in this, but revelation comes in Isaiah 53:5 & Zechariah 12:10.

As it is written: "Behold, G-D my salvation [Y'shua]..." (Isaiah 12:2)

    Bless you

  • sorry to break it to you dude, but this custom was developed in the middle ages, to keep the kids busy. It has nothing to do with your messiah.

  • @texlevy - that's a gentile for you, trying to guess what the symbolism means. Gentiles can always profit by asking a Jew or Rabbi and getting their information straight. I'm a gentile, so I know. It's worth it.

  • I want to celebrate passover now it sounds fun

  • Baloney. Passover has NOTHING to do with sin.

  • Ehh, it's an allegory people. A type and shadow of future events.
