Dave Urena, recent photo-collages

Dave Urena is a designer/art director and photographer living in Winston-Salem. As the son of an engineer, he travelled with his family as they followed project after project, and spent many of his early years overseas. After graduating from high school in Brazil, he returned to the United States to receive a B.A. in Education from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, and an M.A. in Visual Design from the School of Design at North Carolina State University in Raleigh. While a following a satisfying and successful career in graphic arts as a designer and art director, he began pursuing his interest and skills in documentary and artistic photography. Dave's approach to assembling photos taken from multiple points of view creates a novel perspective and sense of space that goes beyond simple wide-angle perspective. Dave is a member of SEED (www.seedgallery.org) a group of artists based in Winston-Salem NC, and is a fellow of the Asolare Fine Arts Foundation (www.asolare.org).
