  • @cockneyboy09 that ain't quite right. well the stuff about the rhythmic differences between 4x4 + 2-step is. but 2-step isn't a separate thing; 2-step + 4x4 (speed garage) are both just styles of uk garage. 4x4 came first in the mid 90s then 2-step developed a couple years later.

also there is plenty of dark speed garage (kma - cape fear, for one) and about a million sweet poppy 2-step tunes to go along with all the ruff bad bwoy stuff.

  • Can anyone ID this track for me? watch?v=aV8K6FnRJ80

  • absolute groove

  • @Gazonkie

    You got it fella!

  • @cockneyboy09 awesome man, thanks for the reply. so the original mix of that track is 2-step and the blocksters remix is ukg?

  • @Gazonkie Basically UKG has got a 4x4 feel to it which is like your standard house beat; whereas 2-step garage drops the 1st and 3rd beat (hence 2-step) so that it gets more of a shaky feeling to it 2-step tends to have a slower beat to it, however it is made up for with things such as shuffle effects Also UK garage tends to be more soulful, where 2-step tends to have a darker vibe, notifly in it's bassline Listen to mc creed -good rhymes original & blocksters mix to compare Hope this helps
