Chevron operated an oil concession in Ecuador's rainforest from 1964 to 1992. The company admits during this time that it dumped 18 billion gallons of toxic waste in an area that was home to six indigenous nationalities -- one of which is now extinct. For the last four decades, Chevron has treated Ecuador as an image problem to be managed rather than a humanitarian crisis that compels a compassionate and real solution. When
one connects Chevron's dots in Ecuador, what emerges is a coordinated series of frauds marked by misinformation designed to deceive courts, the public, shareholders, and the financial markets. The purpose of this scheme is to avoid paying the cost of a real cleanup, and it matters not that vulnerable rainforest peoples -- among them thousands of children -- have died or suffer grievously as a result.

I don't think I'll be gassing up at the local Chevron station after watching this!

  • You are right- most Americans are unaware- otherwise heir wouldbe protest. I am a disgusted American. I am shamed by the greed of my country and I do all I can to spread the word and create protest.

  • chevron refusing to pay the fine and take responsibility for the damage they've done to ecuador. they're ten times worse than bp.

pay up and take responsibility you deadbeat arrogant american bastards.

  • my heart is crying right now looking how this chevron conpany did to my country , but you are going to pay mother-fuckers .

  • i did want to become an ecologist so i could maybe stop things like this form happening... but maybe i'll just become a terrorist and attack big corporations like Chevron

  • Another excample of a corporation distroying the environment and killing people

  • this is another reason America is hated by the rest of the world...

    God this is sick.

people should be executed for this sort of crime

  • Wow amazing... I never knew.

  • But really, why didnt chevronTexaco just spend a little more to drill cleaner and spill less in the very begenning? Its going to cost them more to clean it up after the fact. And instead of paying lawyers to fight the claims, why not just take a stand, and use that money to make a dent in the endless clean up. It would also just better there image as a company

  • The thing is, sure there is oil contamination, but is it all ChevronTexaco's fault. Im sure when this huge company asked Ecuador if they could drill there in the 70's they said YES PLEASE!
