PART 1

A delightful film about a rarely-heard voice of Middle England, featuring four women who are keen to show people that they are Thoroughly Modern Muslims. Haleh is a professor, Asia is a cartoonist, Maryam is a trainee solicitor and Fari is a full-time mum and qualified GP.

Aided by a friendly commentary from actress Mina Anwar, they invite viewers to see Britain and Islam through their eyes, and show how they interpret the foundations of their faith in contemporary British culture.

The programme addresses all the issues expected from a documentary about Muslims -- head-covering, terrorism and the Five Pillars of Islam -- but people might not expect the spirit of friendliness, humour and warmth that these four women display, from Professor Haleh's modest rebellion against fasting, to young mum Fari persuading her daughter to eat her greens. And, while Asia tries to persuade the world that she isn't oppressed, Mancunian Maryam hopes one day she'll be a "strong enough person" to cover her head. They're dedicated followers of Islam, but passionate about the little things that make Britain a great place.

She's A Thoroughly Modern Muslim is 30 minutes in the company of four women -- thoroughly British and thoroughly Muslim -- who strive to meet the challenges posed by faith and British culture.

  • No such thing as modern/extremist Islam, it's just Islam... People just want to compromise with God sadly =/

  • I get the horrible Happy Clappy feeling coming over me when watching this. There is nothing modern about any religion whether it be islam, christianity, buddhism or whatever. They are all based on ancient superstitions from our promitive past.

  • @Perseveranze I hear what your saying. Lol if people who claim to be Muslim only knew that we should be following Quran and sunnah not some sufi shayk. Lol these sufi's are crazy Allah protect the true believers.

  • AssalamuAlaikumwww.paradise-jewels.webs.com-please check it out

  • @SuperBenzid I honeslty dont know about that, but like in love, which is the essence of faith , what wud worth a love that needs perpetual proofs!

And in the meantime ask THE LORD, ! your request wud be answered !

  • @GoyUnHuman

That is a good point why didn't he just put it in multiple languages on a usb drive. That would be much easier. He is god he could make it exist if he wanted.

  • @SuperBenzid indeed! Arabic is the most elaborated language ever spoken (arab means articulate and clear) during the paganism the arabs wrote poems challenging anything being able to compose poem as they did. Also, if the Quran had to been translated in all the languages, it shud have been sent in PC, and the PC didnt exist,,,what else ALLAH shud have done to "accomodate" smart ass like u ?

  • @GoyUnHuman Allah is meant to know the future though. He could of just had it written out in English no problem.

  • @SuperBenzid During the 6th century, time of the Quranic revelation then, english language just did not exist...yet....but you re a smart one, and you wud have figured it out !

  • @GoyUnHuman

If translation is a problem why doesn't Allah provide a translation to English then? If he is all powerful it shouldn't be a big ask.

  • @SuperBenzid there s a book pointing out all the scientifical proof in the Quran, from a Math/Physic PhD (Mohamed Yassin Kessab, Les Milles Verites Scientifiques du Qoran, SNED Ed), I know it exists in French, but I doubt about the english version. Anyway, the guy point out 1000 scientifical fact about the Quran exactitude !
