Testing an EMG 40DC bass pickup in my Schecter C-5 Bass. I record using Ableton Live 6 through a Soundblaster Extreme Music sound card. No EQ of volume has been edited in Ableton, just rendered at maximum quality.

  • Great videos, thanks. Any chance of comparison with Seymour Duncan Blackouts for Bass?

  • @lumpichu Hmm, I sold the bass and dont have the money to buy a new one or the pickups. Plus I now play an amazing Fender American Precision Bass Delux. Its from '97,three band EQ, maple neck and a great bridge humbucker. I couldnt hope for a better bass!

  • thanks for your reply. Fender's are too expensive for me at the moment - four times more than a Ibanez or Schecter. do SD Quarter Pounder pickups have such great tone? i haven't heard them before but will check YouTube to listen. HAPPY NEW YEAR 2010!!!

  • I will try and do a Fender Vintage Vs SD 1/4 pounders in the New Year. Mexican Fenders aren't any more expensive than Schecters. After playing an American, I couldn't go to Mexican, but I prefer Mexican to Schecter, if that helps?

  • thanks 4 this vid - the emg's sound very solid!

i hv been trying so hard to find someone who play a schecter bass that's not a schecter stiletto b'coz i m interested in buying a schecter omen extreme bass n yr C-5 is the first n closest i can find - same shape, mahogany body, maple top but different pickups n bridge

have u tried an Ibanez SRX430 (mahogany body, active pickups 2 band EQ)? any views btwn an schecter omen extreme bass or a ibanez srx bass?

    thanks again for sharing

  • I haven't tried an Ibanez, I am always searching for my perfect tone. Currently, I love my Fender American Precision Bass Deluxe. Im solidly in the Fender camp at the moment and would prefer an American Standard Jazz with Quarter Pounder Pickups to a Schecter any day.

  • hey man, you play how ever you want. there is no wrong way to play an instrument. slapping and popping used to be considered the "wrong way to play bass" and now......

  • Nice tone mate! I'm having a bass made with EMG 40DC, 40CS, Shuker 3 band Eq. Lucky me :) I'll post a clip when i get it in about 4 months!!!

  • For you what is the best emg pickup for a 5 string bass? emg 40 dc or 40p5?

  • @kyral210 Can you do a cover of For Whom The Bell Tolls by Metallica?

  • Listen, I really love your videos. I realize they took a lot of work, they're vital to people who are consumers in the pickup market. I hope you keep making them.

But if I hear the bass line from Memory Remains one more time, I'm going to throw my head into my monitor.

  • @kyral210 hi, im making a bass and i plan to use these pickups, whats ur verdict? thanks for ur time

  • @kyral210 hi, im making a bass and i plan to use these pickups, whats ur verdict and how to they handle distortion, thanks for ur time

  • I have a Schecter Elite 4 string and with upgraded EMG35DC pickups and with 18volts it is the best tone I have ever heard.
