Progressive Values? Stephanie Leaf - Open Mindedness

I think that open mindedness is so often interpreted as blind acceptance of any concept, no matter how controversial. Being able to listen to new ideas, to empathize and to self examine is good, but I think that blindly accepting ideas for the sake of not causing offence, or to appear "progressive" can be dangerous.

I am a Christian conservative. I think open mindedness is a good thing. I often get confused by the term however, especially when it so often seems to be deprived of any context.
