It's not a stripped down form of MIDI samples, MOD/tracker music is like an ADVANCED MIDI with built in samples.

Not having a go but all these mods are originally done on the amiga and the samples are from sountrackers st:01 sample disk.

@r8qt7 is okay we'll just use one of our expansions slots. I mean assuming both have an 060 fitted that means you're out of luck for expanding the falcon ;)
-
@richardmaudsley77 No the sound is actually better (16 instead of 8 bits)
-
@r8qt7 Ahh, in theory. But the pointless 16-bit bus (they so obviously did that for cost reasons, no matter what they said) crippled the 030. We've still got the better OS, and models with lots of expansion slots (have you seen 1200 towers?).
Not that I'd say no to a Falcon. 14MB for cubase, lovely.

@richardmaudsley77 Nope Amiga sucks against an Atari Falcon
-
@r8qt7 okay, a lot worse
-
@richardmaudsley77 Nope
-
@r8qt7 Yeah, it can do what amiga can do - only slightly worse

@doctorclu And dont forget the Falcon sound subsystem. It was amazing. The fist computer for home use with 8 tracks hardisk recording on 50 KHz/16Bit and a DPS Chip and 16 tracks on 33 Khz/16 bit with realtime effects :)

@doctorclu You wouldnt bother playing mods on the Falcon you would just play 320kbit MP3's.
These sounds are so old school and cool. I once had mods playing in an Atari ST emulator running JAM (I think). Wasn't the TT also known as the Falcon or am I wrong?

I actually recovered these mods before selling my TT030. Great machine. Just what can I say, I had a Macintosh first and that spoiled me. Back in the day the ST was the great entry machine cheaper than a Mac. The Falcon came after the TT030. The TT030 ran at 33 mhz, and had improved graphics modes over the regular ST's before it. The Falcon had the same processor, ran at 16 mhz, but a lot of the processes were better, and 256 color over 16 color on the TT030.
