This is my review of my new guitar, the Ibanez RGT42DX.

I got this because I wanted a guitar with a double locking Floyd Rose style tremolo. I still hate maintaining them though.

It has an Edge III bridge, which in my opinion is better than other Floyd Rose style bridges I've tried. It feels solid and I can palm mute relatively hard on it.

This is a neck through guitar. It has neck and headstock binding but you can't see it very well because the whole guitar is white.

It has a Wizard II neck with mother of pearl sharktooth inlays, and 24 frets. It has a larger and wider neck than my SG.

Most of the guitar is mahogany, and the fretboard is rosewood. The pickups are some generic Ibanez Infinity pickups. The tuners are also generic.

The feel of this guitar is great and the bridge feels nice too. It is easy to play and it feels solid. It is a high quality instrument. The things I don't like about it are the noisy stock pickups and the boring body shape. Overall though I think this is a great guitar.

Yes, I will still play my SG! And no I'm not going to change my name to "WhiteRGShredder" or something like that, heh.

  • Does EMG pickups fit on this guitar?

  • @Sam132161 No idea.

  • i have one question, about the edge 3 tremolo. compared to a schaller floyd rose the ones made in germany, how highly does this guitar stay in tune? like bcuz im a guitar-stay-in-tune freak and i want to know if this kind of tremolo stays in tune better than the schaller floyd rose or is it like the schaller floyd rose or if its like a great tremolo. bcuz i like floyd rose guitars but i hate the licensed ones. plz answer these questions and thank you for your time. nice playing by the way. =]

  • @Mrfob23 Well I can't compare since I don't have a guitar with a Schaller Floyd Rose. But this one has stayed in tune for me just fine. Thanks for the nice words.

  • how well would this guitar be for playing evanescence????

  • @anthonyring123 I have no idea. I've only heard a few of their songs.

  • @anthonyring123 this guitar is for more than just play evanescence, man :/

  • Obviously there is a perfect guitar, the Jackson USA SL2H Soloist.

  • @guitarlover95 "top-locking nut"?

  • I use to have one of these it was one step down though, it had dot inlays, I want a white one of these so bad, mine was gunmetal green

  • @guitarlover95 Locking nut.

  • What's the tune-lock called at the neck? i can't figure it out. I have an Ibanez guitar myself, S-series custom, but I've lost the ''lock''. Help?
