Southern California Shanty Town / Tent City

Here are some videos of a tent city / shanty town that has popped up in the suburbs of Southern California. I've never seen anything like this in America since the great depression. At first it seems as though many of the residents had lost their houses due to the mortgage crisis, and I am sure some had, but it seems rather that most here have just fell on hard times due to the economy in Souther California in general. The tent city has been removed by the city and no longer exists to my knowledge. We only went there a few times, as our major work is in Los Angeles with the homeless on Skid Row.

The banking elite created this mess. They reward themselves with offensive and insane profits and bonuses. How callous does one have to be to reward themself for destroying the lives of millions of others, and sending the country on a downward spiral.

This shanty town was in Ontario, CA. When I was a kid Ontario was nice, clean, and jobs were abundant there.

@smp236520 thats not even a real issue, the people you named out are multi millionars that do give away to charity a number of times. The real issue is the dept crisis both the US and your little UK country are in, the recession thats causing millions to lose there jobs 43 million americans are on food stamps, thats the huge issue. FYI the wars arnt helping our recession a bit..

Reason foreigners do well in OUR great country is because they're NOT afraid of hard work. They're grateful & most have a dream, goal etc. They're up early, stay up late & work 24/7 if need be. My fellow Americans tend to be lazy, hold a deep resentment for (fill in the blank) & have a litany of complaints of WHY they can't do a thing. It's nauseating!!! We have an AWESOME country but don't know HOW to care for it OR ourselves. We've been playing now it's time to pay but laggards don't want to.

@smp236520 Why would U pick on these people? What happen to the OTHER multi-BILLIONAIRES in our great country? The Buffets, The Gates, Frank Sanatra, Spielberg & the lengthy list of celebs who R JUST as capable of helping the poor. This is a VERY myoptic statement & one of contempt. WHY when things happen many R quick to point fingers at those w/money? I don't ever recall hearing someone "blame themselves" for being in the mess they're in. We have such a "victim mentality". Why is that?

@compassionrejected Here, Here!!!!!! My fellow Americans 99.999% of the times cannot handle the truth!!! Is it not easier to blame others for our (fill in the blank), wanting others to do for us what we're not willing to do for ourselves. 'We the People' sit on our laurels and/or just party, party, party....not giving much thought for and of "tomorrow". The mentality has been "play now...pay later"....now it's paying time, but the players don't want to pay. However....we ALL will.
