How to play IL-2 @ 1680*1050 or FULL-HD

A little tut to get the Il-2 Sturmovik solution at 1680*1050 or 1980*1050 wide screen

For Full HD Change to 1920 and 1080

BUT: If you changed to 1920x1080 and want to play at a 1680*1050 monitor you have to change back ;-)

I can't get IL2 to work in widescreen. 24" 1920x1200, Win7 64bit, change all the correct settings in the config.ini when I go in game, I have black bars at the side. Tried everything, no luck.

Sagmal , ich habs jezt auch in 1680x1050 aber nicht in Widescreenn sondern in diagonalen von 4:3 . Bzw. es sind rechts und links schwarze ränder =( kann man das ändern?

Im Menü ist es immer 4:3, im Spiel dann 16:10. In den Optionen darfst du nichts umstellen, da steht irgendwas von 640 aber das ist schwachsinn ;-)

When i do this & i play menu is in 4:3 format, 1680x1050 is when I fly?

That works! Not sure what is different, I changed 1080 to 1200 and its full screen. Considering I have a 2600k and 470gtx, the game is a little stuttery, now FSX is smooth and this is stuttery. It not too bad though, will try HL later. Any magic tweaks to smooth it out, do you run nVidia inspector, what settings are recommended?
