Great clip! Gretzky was never more of an offensive beast than at this exact moment. 1983-84 would easily have been his highest scoring season, but for the injury that kept him out of games 52--57. After game 51, he was on pace for 96 goals, 144 assists, and 240 points. He slowed down a bit after the injury, but still ended up with 2.77 points-per-game, the best such mark of all time.
The OIlers later tied the 21 goal record when they defeated the Black Hawks 12-9 on Dec. 11, 1985. From the 1980-81 season through the 1986-87 season, the OIlers scored 10 or more goals in a game 26 times. Four of those games were playoff games, and two of those were in the same playoff series, against Chicago on May 1, 1985 (11-2) and May 14, 1985 (10-5). After that, the great OIler team was broken up, as one great player after another left Edmonton for U.S. cities that paid them more money.
Fuhr is from Spruce Grove, not Spring Grove.
