Many people did not want that "new new new". Commercial radio payola heavy rotation play of bleep every 2 hours ( or even faster ) turned us off and we turned them off. But, the system. They say it's played on the radio all the time. "That" is what people are wanting to hear. Ratings. Don't be concerned with facts. It's the illusion. Watch the money. If 80% of people turn radio off, they don't show anybody exists but the 20% who still have radio on for just background sound.
@2blakandbold thanks for the reply.....he, like a lot of other early R&B artists, just kind of got swept under the rug after the mid 60's. People wanted only "new new new". But he had a very unique voice, kinda like the original lead for the Dells had. But, luckily...he lived long enough to do his old stuff and get some degree of appreciation from the public for his efforts and know that a lot more people cared than he might have thought....
@packard400 .He wasn't performing as often. He passed away from terminal brain cancer.By the time anyone knew , it was to far gone.I sure wish i could have known him sooner.
