My Green Pikmin Idea for Pikmin 3

With all the excitement going around for the upcoming Wii game, Pikmin 3, I figured I'd make a quick video involving my green pikmin since I have a picture (Made by CloakedAlchemist). The only thing the picture got wrong is that the green pikmin is a lighter shade of green and the eyebrows are even lighter than that. Hard to imagine, I know, but bear with me.

These buggers with fake eyebrows are immune to acid and go farther (not higher, father) when thrown (This doesn't happen automatically). I prefer this to pikmin that simply fly because most of the flying pikmin ideas I see are either broken (unreasonably strong) or non-realistic.

Unfortunately, I've been doubting the possibility of this more and more lately since we may not need more hazards... oh well!

I have more ideas and I'll go ahead and post them if people are interested.

  • I would like to see black pikmin as the third subterranian pikmin, and be immune to ice and light up dungeons the more of them you have. For greens, maybe when a character rises in altitude, the pikmin lose speed and strength, but greens have it the opposite. As for oranges, I'd like to see them handling bomb rocks, and maybe dig faster than any other pikmin. I would like to see each type with their own onion, although that can't really be too strategically done... Plz tell me what you think!

  • Ice-immune black pikmin might be a better idea than cyans because they'd be easy to confuse with blues, but lighting up dungeons may not be that useful because you get a powerup that takes care of that.

    I like the altitude idea. There could be areas with less oxygen that only greens could survive/work in, though they still need another ability to make them practical on the battlefield (reds have stronger attacks, whites are fast and toxic, yellows are good for flying enemies, exc).

  • Continued: I'm not sure about other pikmin carrying bomb-rocks because it leaves a small plot-hole as to why yellows can't do it anymore, though it's not that big of a deal I suppose.

    We might get one more onion to make an even four, but I'm not completely sure...

  • Green Pikmin already exist. They are the Parasitic bulbmin in Pikmin 2. The rumor is that they will be in Pikmin 3 with Fangs as their defining feature.

  • I think that the Green Pikmin should be resistant to wind. Or even something else is okay, but I really, REALLY think he should be able to climb things. Even things on bosses.

  • There already is a wind resistant pikmin, and it's purple.

  • YouTube is for uploading videos. This is a video. A brief video with only one picture, but still a video nonetheless.

    I don't see what the issue is.

  • I've seen some pretty good ideas where the pikmin can blend in if you stay still for a little while. The one problem is that Olimar wouldn't be invisible, so that wouldn't negate the threat of an incoming enemy.

  • I think that green pikmin should be bulbmin, and are the weakest, and slowest types, but when they are eaten by any type of bulborb, bulbear, or bulblax,, they take control of it, and it spawns 5 babies, and becomes an enemy, once you kill it, the babies panic, and you can blow the whistle to ally the babies. Also when you beat the boss empress bulbmin, she acts as an onion, and stays on the ground at the end of the day, bring her remains of enemies, and she'll spawn new babies

  • @DeerMime Also, I just really wanna say, thank you for replying! But, yes, I think having a pikmin ability to light up dungeons would be more challenging than just a powerup... I was shooting for a night-vision-esque pikmin. But, the pattern of three onions and a ship is just so... I don't know... Built into the game, I guess... It would be hard seeing it another way. Maybe two connected bases, each with three onions and one ship (S.S. Dolphin or Company Ship)

  • @DeerMime Oh, sorry I meant to specify that greens had the homing ability rather than purples.
