Navajo Times Retribution Navajo Times Against Navajo

On, July 11, 2008, Cindy Yurth, a non-Navajo reporter for the Navajo Times, went to the 50th Anniversay of the Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park in UT/AZ. She did not cover this event but pursued an unrelated story that had strange assumptions and quotes. A personal email I sent to the Navajo Times was taken as an official Letter To The Editor from my current Navajo Tribal employer--a position I hold as a TEMP. The disclaimer printed by the Navajo Times Editorship claims that I facilitated the interview and met person(s) interviewed by Cindy Yurth: this is not true and the ethics of the reporter and the Navajo Times is questionable. Excuse me, Navajo Times isn't the same as New York Times? Reports are suppose go out there and get the source...whats the point of a newspaper if its mostly based on opinions? Hello people...if I wanted opinions, I would read a book. I want facts, not just opinions, i don't want to waste my money on someone who isn't willing to work harder to give me the details that I want to know, especially about their particular opinion. One more thing, being one sided is an issue, FYI.

You people don't know HALF of what goes on at Navajo Times. CIndy is white and that is not a crime. Cindy is a deccent reporter and perhaps people (Navajos?) are jealous of her. She does get close to her subjects and people in her stories, but that is just unprofessional, not a CRIME. She is one-sided at times, but hey, Navajo Times is NOT the New York TIMES

Cindy Yurth is the best writer of the Navajo Times. It's a consensus view that many Navajo members have and they look forward to her weekly reports. She doesn't state the facts, she actually involves herself substantially within each piece she writes. For example, her piece on the residents of Big Mountain and their resistance. I know your stating your "opinion," but let it be known, you might be the only one who feels malevolence toward Cindy, and she's a great WRITER and you're just demented.

I think this is your best work yet. The Times dosen't tell tell the real crime of the Navajo Nation. The current stuff that draws gossip like major media. It's taboo to talk about rape or murder among the nation. I hear crimes that occur but the Gallup Independent dosen't report any of it.

cmon relax..the times is ok... you should ahve let duane(editor) know that your letter was not to be published. The Navajo times is a great paper although the design and look of the paper has gone waay downhill, but cmon layoff...they are the only paper we have and most workers there are awesome...well cept for ones who obviously dont belong there and jus stay there cause they blackmail people hahahaha(relax)
