This is a blues alternative version of the Christmas carol, "God rest ye merry gentlemen", dedicated to the global banking elite. I'm not one for protests and certainly no violence, disorder or even making a mess. But I think we should help bankers to gain a better perspective. My ideal would be get them all to sit down and watch the Frank Capra classic from 1946, "It's a Wonderful Life", with some nice tea and biscuits to consider whether they really want to be like Mr Potter or whether they'd rather be like George Bailey. Banking done properly can do a lot of good in the world. Merry Christmas blues fans! Merry Christmas bankers! Merry Christmas everyone!

Go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4ne13Zft9Q to see the great speech by James Stewart playing George Bailey in the film. And http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qu2uJWSZkck to see his explanation of how banking serves the community to anxious locals during a run on his Saving and Loan company.

Many thanks to everyone who has offered helpful feedback on my music. It is now just over 3 months since I first started. I still have a great deal to learn, but feel I have made some progress. Certainly, still enjoying myself. This is my first go at multi-tracking. I used Audacity, which is a nice piece of free software. Other equipment for those who like to know: Ibanez electric guitar with gauge 11 strings tuned to open e, heavy glass slide, Vox DA5 amp, Boss RC3 looper, Blue Snowball usb mic, Hohner super 20 harmonica in c played cross harp in g, comfy slippers and good quality chinese tea.

The paintings in the video are famous ones by old masters such as Rembrandt, Dou, van Roejmerswaelen, and Valentin de Boulogne. The internet is awash with all sorts of copies. I chose some lo-res ones at random which had no copyright notices, took the res down a bit lower still and rendered them in b/w. Just Google "money changer paintings" to find the pictures and a long list of companies ready to help you see them in their full glory with hi-res copies and prints.

  • Just look at the ads that appear on this video. Hedge funds, banks, credits cards, financial advisers... The Google engine is either still a bit dumb or it has a terrific sense of humour.
