I ran into a drum circle while visiting Woodstock. Apparently it happens every Sunday from 4-6 and every full moon.
Around min 0:30 the bearded lady first appears with her dog dancing. Also not joking.
Then around 2:25 her friend in the "cat in the hat"-style hat (husband? Lover?) comes walking down the sidewalk.
Around 3:08 the bearded lady makes another appearance. Her dog scurries towards me while filming which makes me take a step back. Suddenly the old bearded lady (At min 3:13) starts sqwawking at me. Literally. No physical words. Squwaking. I have no idea what's going on but the hat man explains I backed into the flowers. I guess in Woodstock they squawk instead of talking?
Anyways, the cat-in-the hat man has the coolest hippie bicycle ever, which should be admired. They also have the most adorable yippity-yappity dogs. Which I guess makes the dogs hippy yippies.
Overall, Woodstock has some great food, friendly people, huge sense of community and fascinating characters that have constructed their own sense of "cool" and social rules. Going there is like going back in time to the 60s.
I felt like my experience in Woodstock was exactly what I should have expected it to be, which is not what I expected it to be, since things are rarely what we expect them to be. So I guess because of that, it was still unexpected.
