@JJJMMM1 Well in russia it is pronounced Kovalchook, but in Europe as a whole (every European commentator during the Olympics/WC's) calls him Kovalchook. So that's my point.

he won the rocket richard trophy back in 04... not saying that's anywhere near as good as a stanley cup/gold medal, but you can't say he's never won anything where "his individual effort was greatly above the rest of the league." he's terrible defensively, but i think it should be pretty indisputable by now that he's "great" offensively, not just "really good."

It really doesn't matter what you decide to call him. His name is what it is and it's pronounced (almost) the way the commentators do it.
"in Europe" means nothing when talking about pronunciations. There are 50 countries in Europe and dozens of languages. What matters is how it's pronounced in Russia, since it's a Russian name.
