this lighthouse is in use; you can frequently hear it from the museum campus (shedd, field museum) area. You can get pretty close if you have a boat or from one of the boat tours that leaves from Navy Pier. In fact, there's a Tall Ship Windy tour that focuses on haunted spots in the great lakes. Haven't done that, so don't know if they say anything about the Chicago Harbor light
