@leereyno hey mate try mini-scleral contact lenses. They're 16.5mm in diameter and won't get dust underneath them. You'll have to go to someone whom is competent in fitting these, though. Hope this helps.

Buddy, don't worry. They can fix your eyes now! Phakic lenses, ICLs, RPK, new forms of Lasik, etc.
They can fix your eyes. Save up money and you'll be fine.

Mine are pretty damned thick too. I don't know the prescription off the top of my head, but -8 point something in both eyes. I've got the high index plastic lenses, but they're still really deep. I like to wear contacts as much as possible, but in Arizona that's difficult due to the dust, parched climate, and 110+ temperatures in summer. I can only wear my contacts for a few hours before they become unbearably uncomfortable.

I wore very thick specs for years since myopia was discovered when i was 7. I wore them so much, people got used to them. Kids crack jokes, but I got used to it. Finally in high school, I decide to go contacts and stayed with them. Im 35 now and really hate wearing plastic in my eyes, but to go back to thick specs would greatly demean my self image. I know all the "God" sayers would say i shoud be happy with the what I got, but most of them have perfect vision, don't they. Keep Ya Head Up, baby!

@skullarc234 same -4.00 in left and 3.75 in the right :o
I hope you realize now that you look great in your glasses and wouldn't worry about them being too thick to wear out in public! I always like it when someone has a "little difference," you know? It can be physical or cultural or linguistic or whatever. Your glasses are one of your "little differences"--better than being a bore! >8-) tapu
