This is an animation short that was created for Honors Animation studio 1&2 classes at the Art institute of Phoenix. The first part of the assignment was to create a short animatic that would present our idea to the teacher, the second part of the class was to create the full animated short!

The team was comprised of Aaron, Kaitlyn, Carl, Tom, and myself. Together we worked as a team utilizing our different strengths and knowledge of 2D animation and its software to create the final production! We worked with programs such as After effects, Photoshop, and 3Ds Max.

Our idea when creating this story was to combine two different genres such as Horror and Western. We ended coming up with a Zombie western short in which we wanted to implement irony and humor. Only in our story the roles are reversed in which the Zombies are not the villains but the victims, we also threw in a little twist to the plot at the end. ;) We feel that we accomplished our goal and are pleased with the art style of this animation in relation to its genre.

we hope you enjoy The good the Bad and the... Undead!

  • It sounds like the vampiress was really hungry....

  • hehe you would be too if you were surrounded by zombies most of the time XP

  • Pretty damn good, I thought it was a ToonBoom production, but if it's 3DSMax, I'm impressed!

  • wow what a compliment thank you! we did use 3Dsmax however only for the Backgrounds to keep perspective and consistancy in each of the scenes ;)

  • ending is just plain creepy 0.o

  • yeah..dats waas gud...n funny...jus bcuz i no ur nature...lol....

  • Well I've been using 3DSMax for years (ever since Beast Wars, heheh), and it never occured to me to use it in a regular cartoon to keep background consistent. Self-taught means I don't get all the nifty stuff you students pick up :)

Still, fantastic work, I'm refering this to an animator friend of mine, I'm sure he'll like a few of your techniques :)

  • yeah.....i was part of this, looking pretty good, i like it...

  • LOL! That was EPIC! I laughed the most when they were using the poor little girl's hard to play monkey in the middle. XD

And I was sooo expecting that little twist in the end~ Although the bg "music" for the credits kinda disturbed me. XD In a good way~! ^^
