Sri Vidya Upasana is the concept of the Universe being the manifestation of Siva and Sakti and is grouped under Tantra Sastra that stands for action. This Sastra can be practiced by one and all irrespective of caste, creed or gender. The emphasis is on personal effort to attain immortality (Moksha) while living this worldly life. The songs in this series eulogize Sri Devi in her various aspects and forms, taking the listener through a spiritual journey into one's own self.

Sri Yagnesa Maharishi (Dr. S. Venkataraghavan) author of the songs was the disciple of Pujyasri Isa Maha Guru Dampati who initiated him into Sri Vidya Upasana. These songs are profound in meaning and have been sung immaculately by one of the most remarkable musicians in the Carnatic Music field, Smt. Nityasri Mahadevan. Nityasri Mahadevan is one of the most sought after musicians today, whose music transports the listener to the world of ecstasy and divinity, with her full throated singing, perfect diction, devotion and melody. She has several titles and awards to her credit.
