If one keeps the flint rock sharp and does not clobber it too hard maybe 1000 strikes, but that's a small piece and Texas chert.
I have large English flint and it's probably the best in the world for flint and steel fire starting. It could last 5000 or more if used correctly. Maybe even 15000 strikes. It does depend on ones experience.
