  • I hadn't realized that. Thanks for enlightening me with unsupported claims, looter.

  • Look it up = I never read the book. Someone told me to think she is communist and it titillates my buried self-hatred, finding something else to hate, as well.

There has never been an author more fundamentally and vocally opposed to communism, than Ayn Rand.

  • Ugh. This is almost perfect, until the lower case "r."

  • I am John Gault : )

  • @PontifexMagnanimous she didn't label fascism in AS b/c she'd prefer you think your own thoughts about it. AS was a work of art, not propoganda, although there's plenty of that too. To start, google "The Fascist New Frontier" & listen to what she was saying about fascism.

AS is just a story. The metaphor is that people who get what they want by passing laws allowing them to take it from others don't deserve the lights of NYC, not even if they're "average" people.

  • @natdavi No I am not saying that AS advocates fascism. I'm saying she never calls it what it was. She lived and wrote books throughout the ww2 era. She would understand the word fascism I would hope. My larger question is:why does she portend that after the robber baron era that there was any free market at all? No Hanks no Dagny's. Just greedy monopoly men in cahoots with government at every level from Boss Hog to D.C., and the blue collar guy.. how does he fair when the lights go out?

  • @PontifexMagnanimous don't cooperate w/ppl who destroy you, build your own life, cooperate w/others but don't make yourself dependent on them, understand why the bad guys are bad and the good guys are good, and spread the word. That's AS.

I know there was some fascism in there but that wasn't the politics advocated in the book. why do you think the politics in AS is fascist?

  • @natdavi Fascism is corporatism. That is what is described in AS. Big business in cahoots with big government. But we have one better Big banks!, big investment houses, wall street, big business, and evangelical religion all in cahoots with big government. I love Ayn Rand. But the future in AS is a despotic hell hole for the average guy. You can have all the pride in your work as you please but the NWO is fixin to exterminate most of us. So how does AS confront the real problem we face?

  • @sesquipedalian no i can't

  • @PontifexMagnanimous As I understand fascism, it's the politics of controlling what people do with their property instead of taking it directly as in socialism. That's what the characters were getting away from. May I ask where you got your definition of fascism?

Also there are plenty of "average" heroes in the book, people who didn't own international corporations. The piano player working for Wyatt, a housewife working the general store, the janitor of the physics lab...

  • My question is- Why doesn't Ayn Rand come out and call the politics in her book what it is?.. fascism. And why does she profess the industrial giants to be benevolent producers? when in fact the robber barrons who looted and robbed and killed created monopolies. Then with their great wealth came foundations built upon the NWO aims of ending sovereign nations. And what is the fate of the average man in AS? Seems like he gets screwed royal. What good will happen when the lights go out in NY?

  • I love this book.

  • Actually, I can.

Just kidding. I really hope this movie comes out soon.

  • Anyone can use anything to back their claims.

  • Angelina as dagny is a joke. So is Pitt as John Galt.

  • There are talks of Antonio Banderas but I don't think It's certain yet. Although John Galt will be played by Brad Pitt. Also, FYI, Atlas Shrugged is #1 on Amazon :D!!!!!!

  • who is going to play francisco? god can't appear in film..

  • lmao touche'

  • expected response, never know till ya look it up yourself.

  • Can't wait to see Angelina as Dagny! I wonder who is going to play Ragnar Danneskjold?

  • Dear John Galt: I wish I was in the valley with you, hank, dagny and francisco enjoying freedom... Thank you for that wonderful speech on Ayn Rands "Atlas Shrugged"!

  • Great job on this life changing book!!!
