FedEx A300 Aborted Takeoff

On take-off-watch the tires smoke, watch the rudder and listen to the engines. A #1 engine surge caused this aborted take off, this happened back when KSJC had one main runway. Note how the Jet was pushed to the left and smoked the tires, and then a full brake to a stop on the runway....A Reno Air MD-83 on a 5 mile final had to do a go-around- and the SJIA Airport Fire Rigs eventually rolled down to Cargo to assist this jet. It took off about 2 hours later. Part of this film was used on the KTVU-2 10 oclock news that evening - as the Lead story. I was paid $120 for about 15 seconds of video. When I filmed this, I did not notice the jet was having difficulties - I had no idea the Pilot was going to abort the take-off.
