Islam is in the air from Barack Obamas big speech, to a festival in New York this month of Muslim arts and ideas. Among those voices are five young women artists who have a show at the Museum of Contemporary African Diaspora Art in Brooklyn. In this video, artists Fariba Alam, Safaa Erruas, Nsenga Knight and Mahwish Chishty share a bit about their installations, which will all be on view through September 13th, 2009 at MoCADA.

  • @Fapsamup Hey, did you know that the most read poet in the US literature is Rumi, an Islamic scholar, mystic, and poet? He was an artist and art is one of the greatest contribution Muslims have made to the world. Check out the Islamic Art wing at the Metropolitain Museum for more references.

  • Islam and art are sadly not compatible. True Islam dictates the Sharia, and that is the law of Allah who says how to live, think, drink, wash, marry,...

How many poets have been killed in the name of Islam?
