  • Theres a quote from a really good hypnotist saying:

You cannot make people do Things in Hypnosis against their will.

But most people have little or no will...

Agreed on the rest. I couldnt do any of that.

  • Rather a meaningless statement. The only thing it reveals is that you have an opinion. Nothing more. I use hypnosis all the time with all kinds of people and IT REALLY WORKS ON PEOPLE.

  • Did you ever read a book or watched a movie? Have you felt yourself inside the book or the movie? Or felt stressed watching fight or horror movies? If yes then who made you stress? Or have you happen be in the lift but tried to step out on wrong floor together with other people? These are real live proof that hypnosis exists. It exist because it is not something others do to you that is something YOUR unconscious mind does to you!

  • this comment was to show that i dont believe that it works, but im interrested to see evidence of real hypnosis.

  • Interesting.

  • So you think it only works on birds?

Agurkas - what was this comment for????

  • I am not sure whether my previous comment was recorded, but I will briefly say what I intended:

Both studies you cited were not very valid by today's standards.

Erickson was not a empiricist like Clark Hull (under whom he studied hypnosis). That article was nothing more than a series of case studies.

Rowland's research used a small sample size(6). Additionally, Orne showed that Rowland's results could be obtained by using non-hypnotized people.

More to say, but I am out of typing space!

  • hypnosis is interesting, but i dont think it really works on people.
