Big Bang experiment" - an attempt to recreate the start of the universe using the biggest and most complex machine yet built.

The £5bn Large Hadron Collider was powered up without a hitch at Cern, the European nuclear research organisation in Geneva.

After a tense first hour researchers announced they had achieved "full beam", meaning that a stream of sub-atomic particles was racing round the LHC's 27 kilometre-long circular tunnel at just under the speed of light. The next stage will be to fire a beam in the opposite direction.

  • @6043231041 why is it a risk? have you been through a black hole? know any one who has and came back to tell you 'its not all that' on the other side? if it did happen the earth was destroyed, dont worry....you'll be dead soon

YAY! for the big tiny thing smasher togetherer!

  • this might cause mini black holes and strangelets and might end up destroying the world...what a risk!

  • @dracozny also we only know it exists because the math says it does and by looking at other galaxies.

  • @dracozny yeah it also has a inconceivably large mass...

  • @jony1710 the center of the milkyway contains a massive blackhole it doesnt last a second.

  • What a waist of money

  • "Blinking out of existence in a matter of seconds" more like instantly. They only know that the black holes exist because the maths says they do. They last too short of a time to be measured/observed.

  • @sdf3123

they said themselves at cern there is a very small chance a stable black hole could be created, which over time would consume the planet and everything... thats what THEY said themselves. but the woman in the video said that scientists at cern said that it will not happen (at 1:50) and I just pointed that out, so I really dont know, whats the problem here.

  • @Copimi dude thats like saying that theres a chance that theres going to be mass starvation on a global level in the next week or so. they say theres a chance so that they can have a little wiggle room in case their wrong in something they said. for example they could run the experiment thinking that theres no way a black hole can apear but what do you know a small tiny mini black hole showed up and did absolutely nothing but allow them to fall back on them saying well there was a "chance"

  • i don't know about the whole god thing and all i mean ive never really died so i cant really say. but i can say that the bible is pointless to read anymore. i mean its been 2000 years of reinterpretation which means that if there was a jesus and god and they did put down and say a set amount of things. whatever was said has been so poluted by mans reinterpretations of it that it would basically be a book of opinions at this point. making it comparible to a magazine rather than an original bible
