all things human ( esp 'art', culture' 'words' ) are artifice and illusion, nature is for silly unthinking animals.

iconic stars(like dietrich) are one form of highest human creation. they were created or created themselves as distinct individuals not ideal 'perfection'

btw there is nothing wrong with her nose.

Yes, Marlene looks wonderful in colour. This is one of her few movies in Technicolor, I wish she made more. Glad you loved the song, it's one of my favorites.

She was all artifice, all image, all striving for effect. And her nose was too wide, too heavy,  it looks out of place in the "perfect" face she was trying to create.
