The royal procession scene from the monumental Polish film Faraon (1966) by the late legendary Polish director Jerzy Kawalerowicz (1922-2007).

The film is based on the famous Polish novel "Faraon" by Bolesław Prus .
Although the story is historically not real one, it remotely echoes some of the historical currents in the late periods of the ancient Egyptian New Kingdom.

The film is characterized by its beautiful scenery and costumes.
It is worth mentioning that the counselor of the costumes and scenery is the great Egyptian director and artist Shady Abdel Salam, who created the most important film that came from Egypt "The Night of Counting the Years" in the late 1960s.

The film 'Faraon' is one of the milestones of the Polish cinema. The scene shown here presents the procession of the pharaoh.
The costumes and designs are inspired by the ancient New Kingdom material.

The music was composed by Adam Walaciński.

  • "By the unanimous testimony of ancient historians, the Egyptians belonged to the Negro race which first settled in Ethiopia on the middle nile, following the course of the river, they gradually reached the sea...." Egyptologist/Historian Gaston Maspero (!846-1916) The Dawn of Civilization

  • @knowitallification

With all due respect, the cited book of Maspero is quite out-dated. Egyptological and archaeological research has been completely revolutionized by a great number of discoveries and studies including interdisciplinary research (i.e. introducing many natrual sciences in the studies). Any verdict on the issue should be based on sound recent sceintific knowledge and not on out-dated infromation. To claim that all Egyptians were of Negro race is scientifically incorrect.

  • This is by far one of the best Polish movies... contrary to what one might think basing on this particular scene, it's very ascetic, lacking multi million dollar budget, special effects etc. -- still, a very well told story about mechanisms of corruption of power

  • @LMB222 I think the topic changed without your permission and I was following and adding where it went quite masterfully. In addition I am correct in my hypothesis and as I now LIVE in Afrika KNOW I was am forever be right! Not off topic, so unless you own google and control its subsidiaries "sod off" yourself!

  • The 19th century did so much damage to so many socieities.

Many modern Indians are convinced that North Indians and South Indians constitute two distinct 'races'.

Many modern Welsh and Scots are convinced that they are somehow more 'aboriginal' than the English.

Many modern African Americans have the impression that the ancient Egyptians looked like Sub-Saharan Africans.

But genetics have shown that invasions do not change a population significantly - those who live there now, always did.

  • movie "Egiptian princess" and "Herhor"-2 part of Pharaoh -soon

  • @Karelise1186

"The Egyptians are very BLACK" Aristotle 'Physionomy' Chapt.6 (He used the words 'agan melanes' which is Greek for 'excessively black')

THERE 'RE YOUR 'TRUE' PHARAOHS. Nothing to debate about.

  • @knowitallification All I am saying is that The True Pharaohs, with divine otherworldly powers, have utilized many different looks (or skin tones), out of their Dynasties and it's been their pleasure to do so. I met Orion anyhow, and it was my impression that he could make his light body appear anyway he chooses to please himself. He is ragingly gorgeous.
