Just look at the the cylinder head, right on the front exhaust port,if you have a 7A or 5A cast into the side, you have a 307,if not,you have another olds engine, this is the easiest way to tell.

Well.the 350 and 403 olds, which would be painted corporate blue if built in the mid to late 70's,and no longer were used after early 1980,I would bet really good money you have the 307,you should be able to tell just by what I pointed out,not to mention if you had a 350 or 403 olds, which basically the same, the power levels would be alot more than a 307.A 260 olds would look bacically the same but would be obvious by the crappy dual jet 2bbl carb, and painted blue.307 I say this is,respectfully.

my 84 olds delta 88 has the computer command control 307 and it looks exactly the same as this, only black air cleaner. just posted a vid of the motor
-
That looks like an Olds 403 motor, all olds motors are pretty much set up the same from the 307 to the 350 to the 403.

One thing is for sure - it's an Olds engine - the oil fill cap is the key. But it could be anything from a 260 through a 455 and look the same under the hood. If you are dealing with later Olds engines - then it would be a 307 or 403. I've driven 403's that were so bogged down by the extreme highway axle ratio that you'd think it was a 105 horse 260. Ya gotta get those numbers.

It's a 307 with a painted air cleaner dude. :-)
-
maybe you could find some blue paint on the block or valve cover, that would be a confirmation of 403, as all 307s were black, to my knowledge GM quit painting divisional engines different colors startin in '80, all of em black by '81.

may have been a 403 OLDSMOBILE, not 406. 403 was a 77-79 Oldsmobile used in Ninety-Eights, Electras, rwd Rivieras.
You mean to tell me you cannot tell the difference!?And for your info, the 307 olds-305 chevy had more or less the same power levels in the 80's,the only difference is that chevy 305's had camshaft problems due to the poor materials, the 307's if taken care of,would go 2-300 thousand miles with out many problems.A oldsmobile engine is very wide compared to a chevy v8,it is not that hard to figure out.CADDY MOTORS DIED IN THE LATE 70'S,Caddy then used olds engines and some chevy lat 80's-U=307OLDS

@KJBPSkipper Well... Would you kindly tell me what engine it is then?! I am FULLY aware about the Cadillac V8 engines and the demise they had in the 70's with them being discontinued. But as I said in the video the owner of the car told me it had been swapped with a Cadillac engine either a 403 or 406 I dont remember what he said, This was posted nearly a year ago. I think the owner is trying to shaft me. And thank you for the spiel on the 305 and 307 I didn't know that...Fuck!

@thestuffz This engine is in a Cutlass Supreme. My Park Avenue has a 307 without the emission control.

@thestuffz I don't know what to think, but I am having seconds thoughts. I think somebody is trying to shyster me. This engine looks like any other 307 I've seen.
