This "poor me" face hardly belies Maines' real intent. They were toting their cross to any venue that would have them. And all the while, they were bashing any and everyone. Just how despicable their underhanded tactics to manipulate the media in their favor is evident in the movie they commissioned for themselves. They even tried to discredit the Red Cross, an organization that had twice offered them membership on the National Celebrity Council (the DC's declined), in their propaganda campaign.
