Another thing. If KIDS will read on the Kindle - LET THEM!! ANYTHING TO GET KIDS TO READ!!! If it replaces 'their' books, so be it, as they ARE READING!!! My son HATES to read! If he'll read on the Kindle, let him do it! Goodbye to books for him! Hello, ereader! Kids ARE MORE apt to read on an ereader because it IS electronical! Let them! Plus, MOM HERE, does NOT have to pick them up!! Just HOPE he doesn't step on and break the screen!
I want to add one more thing. I miss, with my Kindle-passing the book over to my husband who will NOT read on the Kindle. He and I like a LOT of the same books and I can't give him a copy of the book to read. He REFUSES to read on the Kindle. Not his thing. It's still to early for us to jump to conclusions. It is EARLY in the ereading days-we can't jump to conclusions that it will replace books. NOTHING will EVER replace books, NOR the ereader now! They are BOTH a wonderful experience!
I worry about my battery dying I use my Kindle SO much. Sometimes it can be on for 8 hours at a time! Will I have the money to replace it when the battery dies? That is my worry. Real books have their place, as well. We can share them, give them away, read them, and more. One thing about a Kindle is you don't have to EVER move the books when you move!! LOL! I LOVE BOTH!
Ereaders will NEVER replace an actual book. Both have their +'s and minus'. I feel an ereader is a much more personal reading experience with the screen right there, ease of turning the page, reading outside IN the sun is AWESOME, and no one knows 'what' you are reading!! I LOVE that! Every now and then I want the real book. If it's one I LOVE, I want to be able to spread it around to my friends for longer than 14 days! BEST thing is you can carryit wherever you are! I have over 400 books! Set
books can now be made on a computer, i think ebooks are better then a normal book, everything is changing its time for people to get with the times. ebooks should replace books.
Perhaps I'm just nostalgic, but I prefer a traditional book. I own a Kindle, and I appreciate the technology, but I still find greater enjoyment and satisfaction from a good ol' book.
Think out the box: a future generation of ipads will consist in flexible electronic plastic. And the energy? probably solar automatic rechargable. Will not be the same, will be much much better.
And for kids? the possibility to interact with the book unleashes the actual boring drama of books, which can catch with modern technology (converting it selfs in something un-appealing for kids to learn from).
All this thoughts will be a part of a distance past very soon. Like TV was in grandpas time

Books don't need to turn on/off, can be dropped, don't need to be charged, don't run out of battery and will never malfunction.
