I also like the Corrie folk trio on this. Of course, Roy and Ronnie also sang on that.

Great song, remember my mum and dad watching this on TV while i was into Maiden and Metallica, didn't get it then, but now wow great players and great song, strange how perspectives change, still love Maiden and Metallica but would have loved to see these guy's play alas not to be.....

@gaconnochie and others Many words and place names in Scotland sound different to the spelling.
Garioch is always pronounced Geery
Chamber could well sound like chumber from an Aberdeenshire native, but it won't be written down that way.
Last time I was in Fraserburgh there were plenty of loons and quines addressed as such.
The Corries definitely come from Edinburgh, but the have a good ear for dialect

my favourite corries song

@josmith4 The Corries weren't from Aberdeen or even the north-east. They were both brought up in Edinburgh AFAIK
-
well, they do say it properly because they were from that general area

@lindseyrowan1 Yes Lindsey 'quine' is used still in the north-east Lowlands. I think it is more or less restricted to there. People where I am in the Borders would generally know what it is but not use it themselves. The song of course comes from the north-east so your father's version would be very valid. Bit of useless info for you! The photo of the Corries at the beginning of this video is them sitting on Kelso (where I live) town hall balcony
Love the way they actually say abeirdein properly!!!!
