@heman521 it's so heavily treated at this volume it doesn't really matter
-
@viking1au Not so - though very many people believe that to be the case. It was actually collected from a street singer, and first printed up in a journal in 1821.

i bet back in the north in the 1800's, this is how the song was really sung.

Nice song; written by Anne Briggs.

Looks/sounds like dropped D (6th is D)
Gaughan plays it in DADGAD - his version makes my hair stand on end, though it's nice to see Renbourn do it.

I asked the same question to a friend from New Zealand a couple of yrs ago and he replied:
'Its a guitar made by an English Luthier Ralph Brown....John told me he has not got a website ...Hk'

It is made by Ralph Bown (not Brown), there is a (sketch of a) website too, but it has been under construction for a couple of years

Thank you Wilhelm.
Wish I had one of those... sounds very very good! He seems to be barely touching the strings!

If you've never heard Dick Gaughan's version of this song, on his "Handful Of Earth" album, you owe it to yourself to seek it out!

Thank you, bud. I appreciate that a lot. I know Dick Gaughan.
I see you're from the State of the yellow rose. I didn't found Stevie Ray Vaughan in between your many favorite artists. Don't you think he might be considered one of the greates Texas musicians of all times?
Cheers
