Face tracking using skin detection by Color Based Image processing

Hello guys,
This video is an attempt to make a computer mouse based on image processing which uses motion of head as it movement and voluntary closing of left or right eye as left click and right click.
Thee first task in this project is to detect the location of face in the image using skin color. This video shows you the results of first attempt at the same.
A red marker is shown on the face of head detected. This looks really slow right now because i have tried to create a video out of matlab using imshow in a loop and besides its being done on a laptop.

btw do you have a reference reading to learn about it, because i'm currently try to doing the same thing for my final project, but it's using openCV library.
